Power Banding 101: Where to Wear Your Crystal Bracelets

Not that you need another reason to deck yourself out in crystal jewelry, but in case you were wondering, there is an intention behind why we suggest wearing crystal bracelets on both arms—or, as we call it, power banding! If you look at the imagery of influential women as depicted by ancient civilizations, you’ll notice a trend: many of them are adorned with bracelets on both wrists.

Whether you’re looking at art conveying Greek goddesses like Athena, Hindu goddesses like Saraswati, Egyptian goddesses like Isis, or Buddhist goddesses like Quan Yin, the common trait among them all are matching cuffs on both arms. This makes sense to us, as energy workers. 

Since positive energy is all about creating and sustaining balance, the symmetry of bands on each side of the body signifies the harmony held within these powerful women. Just as the right and left sides of the brain serve different functions, the right and left sides of the body serve different energy functions. That’s why wearing crystals in the form of bracelets on both your left and right side is the most effective and powerful way to maximize the energetic benefits of your bracelets. 

Wearing two or more bracelets not only doubles the energy, but actually takes the energy of each bracelet to a whole new level. 

Left vs. Right: How + Why You Should Be Wearing Your Bracelets On Specific Sides 

To get the most out of your energy power banding and your bracelets, it is important to first understand what each side of the body does. That way, you can cater your bracelet, crystals, and intentions to the appropriate side of the body and get the most out of your jewelry. 

While the left side is your sensitive, responsible for dealing with your internal self, your right side is more about how you take action in the world outside. You receive energy through your left side, and it is on this side that you make positive “shifts” that best benefit you emotionally. When you wear certain healing bracelets on your left wrist you can consciously control and modify stresses from your outside environment. In contrast, your right side is your “doer” or “action” side. When you wear crystals on your right wrist, the gemstones aid in your productivity and control the energy you put into your outside environment. 

To get the best energetic benefit from your crystal bracelets you simply need to find the correct balance between your left and right sides (similar to the ancient Chinese concept of yin and yang energy – light vs. dark, slow vs. fast, soft vs. hard, internal vs. external). You can do this by wearing crystal bracelets on your left and right wrists in specific combinations to help you better achieve what you desire. We recommend that you wear a combination of at least 2 bracelets on each wrist when working with this “energy power banding” concept.

How to Create Your Own Power Banding Formula with Crystal Bracelets

  • On your right wrist: Choose 1 bracelet to represent your core intention or goal. What’s the one intention you want to manifest right now? 
  • On your left wrist: Choose 2-3 bracelets to act as your “team of support stones.” What energies do you need to support you while you work towards your one goal?

Finding Your Own Personal Energetic Formula

Often out of habit we tend to wear the same stones or bracelets on the same wrist. But over time, you may find that you are no longer receiving the same results or energetic impact that you once did. That’s totally normal – as we change, our crystal bracelets need to change, too! In that case, it may be time to check in with your personal energetic formula for your wearable crystal jewelry. There are a few ways to change things up to reset and refresh your wearable crystal routine.

  1. Change Wrists: If you have been wearing your bracelet on the left side only, try switching it to the right side for 21-40 days or visa versa. Giving the stones a new point of access to your energy and a new way to connect with the crystals can make a big difference in how you interact with your wearable crystals. 
  2. Add or Subtract: If you have been wearing just the one bracelet, try adding another bracelet to complement your wearable crystals. On the other hand, if you have been wearing two or more bracelets, try removing one to see if isolating the stones can shift your energy. Incorporate the power banding combinations below and try a new formula. 
  3. Evaluate your Energy: Sometimes changing the wrist on which you wear your crystals or changing up which crystals you are wearing can help, but other times you have to look a little deeper. This could be a sign to evaluate your own personal energy and what is going on in your life. Are there areas of your life that you need to pay more attention to or focus on more? Are there behaviors or habits that you need to shift? Are you holding yourself back? Take a look at your internal environment to make any necessary changes to support your highest good.
